Tamales Rellenos De Nopales Y Queso

Ingredients
Dough:
- 1 cup of lard (200 grams)
- 2 1/4 cups + 1 tbsp of tamale flour
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon pepper
Filling:
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 (15-ounce) jar DOÑA MARÍA® Nopalitos, drained
- 1/2 cup sliced tomato
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon pepper
- 10 Panela Cheese sticks, chopped 3-inch length, and ½ inch width
- 1/2 (226.5g) HERDEZ® Salsa Verde
- 10 Corn husks
Directions
- In large skillet combine oil, tomato, and onion over medium heat, fry 4 minutes, and add garlic.
- Fry 5 minutes, add DOÑA MARÍA® Nopalitos
- Cook for 3 minutes over low heat
- Add salt and pepper and reserve
For Tamales Dough:
- In mixer place lard and mix for 5 minutes at medium speed.
- In large bowl, add vegetable broth combine flour by cups, little by little, until dough is formed.
- Add dough to softened lard and mix at low speed.
- Add baking powder, salt, and pepper to the mix. Reserve.
- In corn husk add two large tablespoons of masa, spread them through corn husk, add tablespoon of HERDEZ® Salsa Verde, tablespoon of nopal mixture, and 1 slice of cheese.
- Close and fold corn husk from the bottom up. Tie it with a piece of leaf cut lengthwise as a thread, so that they do not come apart. REPEAT until dough is finished.
- In large steamer Add water, place folder corn husk and cook over high heat for 55 minutes or until cooked.
